episode 145: Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory

Katie and Bridget find their golden tickets as they re-watch the movie: Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory! It's a story all about how shaming children via song can really churn out some bops! Just kidding - it's actually about consumerism, lying to your family about fake disabilities, and testing the moral compass of children... Look this movie is a little ridiculous okay!? Come along as we meet Charlie, a poor kid who has to deliver newspapers by night just to support his grandpa's tobacco addiction. He finds one of Willy Wonka's golden tickets and gets to go on a magical tour of his demonic factory. Along the way he'll witness lots of potential child deaths, go on a traumatic boat ride, meet some Oompa Loompas (with awesome pants), and eventually get stuck in a glass elevator with two grown men floating around in space. It all. Makes. SENSE! Released in 1971, this movie was based on the novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, written by Roald Dahl.
