Are 'safe spaces' in university a good idea?

Theresa May has been asked about 'safe spaces' on university campuses at PMQs. The idea, adopted by many student unions, is that people should not be made to feel uncomfortable or unwelcome on the basis of their gender, race, sexual orientation or other aspects of their identity - and so groups that might do this are sometimes banned. Riham Mansour, Community and Welfare Officer at the London School of Economics students union, and Charlie Peters, an undergraduate student at Edinburgh University, debate the issue.
