Talk Business & Politics 3.17.15

TB&P Business Editor Wes Brown and Editor-in-Chief Roby Brock discuss the big business stories of the week, which included the Maker Faire coming to downtown North Little Rock and the passing of business legend Richard "Dick" Bell.

The Maker Faire, which will be hosted in downtown Argenta on May 2, is known as a "science fair on steroids." It will bring a variety of people interested in science, art and technology together and is widely credited with boosting startup and entrepreneurial efforts.

Richard Bell is a 2003 state business hall of fame inductee. As the former CEO of Stuttgart-based Riceland Foods and as the state's first Agriculture Secretary, Bell had tremendous respect in the agricultural community and was a pioneer in advancing the state's rice industry and more.

Other topics of discussion in this week's podcast include:

- The Arkansas Aerospace and Defense Alliance with Chad Causey

- Camden's Lockheed Martin and its prospects for a superproject

- The latest state unemployment report

- The Fed Open Market Committee and interest rates

Also, Brown and Brock offer their opinions on this question: What type of grade should Wal-Mart CEO Doug McMillon get for his first year at the helm?
