Russian Foreign Policy as an Exercise in Nation-Building [Audio]


Speaker(s): Dr Dimitri Trenin | Leading Moscow-based analyst Dimitri Trenin opens up the black-box of Russia’s foreign policy and sheds light in particular on the role of the internal factors. This public lecture is organised on the occasion of the publication of Russia’s Foreign Policy: Ideas, Domestic Politics and External Relations, a collective volume co-edited by LSE academics Dr David Cadier and Professor Margot Light, to which Dr Trenin contributed a chapter. Dimitri Trenin (@DmitriTrenin) is Director of the Carnegie Moscow Center and a Senior Associate of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. Before joining Carnegie in 1994 he served in the Soviet and Russian army. He’s a frequent commentator for the world news media, in particular The New York Times, The Moscow Times and Beijing’s Global Times. Michael Cox is Director of LSE IDEAS. The International Relations Department at LSE (@LSEIRDept) is now in its 87th year, making it one of the oldest as well as largest in the world. LSE IDEAS (@LSEIDEAS) is a foreign policy think-tank within LSE's Institute for Global Affairs.
