How Millennials Want to Make a Difference
Shauna Shames, assistant professor of political science at Rutgers University at Camden and author of Out of the Running: Why Millennials Reject Political Careers and Why it Matters (New York University Press, 2017), challenges the conventional wisdom that millennials are politically apathetic, drawing on her research at elite American universities.
"These are people looking pretty rationally at the political system and saying 'the change I want to see in the world would be hard to produce in the system I see now,'" says Shames.
