episode 538: Digitally Entitled

Windows 10 version 1709 is complete. (a.k.a. the Fall Creators Update or Redstone 3, its names are legion.)
Related: Microsoft holds a mixed-up mixed reality briefing with no real news.Microsoft buys AltSpaceVR. Why? And who are they?
Related: The Windows 10 Photos app was just updated with a surprisingly good video editor. This is great news for people pining over Windows Movie Maker.
Related: 70 extensions for Edge after one year. Is that good or bad?

Looking ahead to Redstone 4: a new build with just a minor new visual change. When will this beta spin up? What can we expect?

Microsoft shutters Groove Music Pass and points customers to Spotify. Also: Store will no longer sell music either. But why not Movies & TV Shows too? And ebooks? (Paul has a theory) Gnashing of teeth in the Microsoft community, but no one actually used this service.
Related: Some industry watchers and OEMs predicting Surface line will be next on chopping block. (Nadella recently denied this, FWIW.)

Mobile: Microsoft is listening to feedback and is fixing Skype, starting on iOS.

Xbox: Cuphead ships and it's awesome. But it's also too hard for most people. Forza Motorsport 7 is a visual showcase, even on Xbox One S. Store is being rebranded as Microsoft Store on Xbox too.
