episode 8: Classic Album Sundays with Yelfris Valdés on Donald Byrd ‘Black Byrd’ at The Jazz Café

Classic Album Sundays and Jazz Café launch a new series of discussions and live performances exploring key records and their influence on contemporary music 'Kind Of New'.

Our first guest was Yussef Kamaal and Daymé Arocena trumpet player Yelfris Valdés discussing and performing Donald Byrd’s 1973 Blue Note release, Black Byrd. A jazz funk classic, Black Byrd was Byrd’s first and arguably most lauded release on Blue Note with a poppy style that grew his fanbase exponentially across the globe.
