The Doctrine of the Trinity points to the deepest truth of Christianity--God is love. However, it also invites us to consider a deep mystery. As such, many people find this teaching difficult to understand and articulate. In this message, Pastor Mark explains that the Trinity was not developed because those in the early church were particularly fond of abstract philosophical reflection. Rather, it emerged as Christians struggled to articulate their experience of God's saving power in the world, particularly as it was revealed in Jesus Christ. The Trinity is an attempt to explain how three essential claims in the Christian faith hang together in a coherent way without lapsing into absurdity: God is Creator, Redeemer, and Sustainer.
