Chinese New Year(Lunar New Year) Market Preview in Taipei, Taiwan
Dihua Street, also known as "grocery street" in Taipei, Taiwan was the center of commerce in Taipei in much of the 19th and early 20th century. It still continues today as an important district for purchasing specialty food items, Chinese medicine products, and high quality tea. Every year it hosts one of Taipei's biggest Chinese New Year or Lunar New Year markets where locals can shop for all of their special snacks, dinner items, and treats for the biggest holiday of the year.
I thought I would give you a preview to show what the market looks like just before it opens two weeks prior to the New Year. My next podcast episode will feature the Dihua Street Market in full swing. It's fun, loud, and a great place to sample all of the great traditional snacks of the holiday.
