You can’t spell Game Master without “pretentious.” Well, you can, actually. But let’s pretend you can’t so I can make a point. My point is a good Game Master needs a lot of big, fancy words at their disposal to make their flavor text as confusing as possible. Oops. I mean engaging, not confusing. More at



When you talk about the Monastery, you have to acknowledge that, by and large, there are basically two different types, the Western European type and the Eastern Asian type. The problem is, the things that are inside them? The Monks? They're all basically the same. "How can this be?" you ask? Easy, a monk is a monk is a monk. Look, we'll explain better when you listen. Just know that this is so and remember, when it comes to the Monk in Dungeons and Dragons, you're better off watching a 1985 action film starring Fred Ward for your inspiration.
