Learn English Through Football Podcast: 2019 FA Cup semi-finals: On this week’s English through football podcast we look at the 2019 FA Cup competition and in particular the two semi-finals taking place this weekend. Introduction
DF: You are listening to languagecaster.com’s football-language podcast. Welcome everyone to the podcast for all lovers of the beautiful game, football, and who want to improve their English language skills. My name’s Damian and I’m back in London, where we have a mixture of rain, hail, wind and sunshine – typical April weather. As Damon mentioned on last week’s podcast I was away in Ireland for a break but I still managed to watch lots of football while I was there including that painful Spurs defeat at Liverpool although no doubt Liverpool fan Damon would have been happy with the last-minute winner. Ouch! He will be even happier now that the Reds won again on Friday evening against relegation-threatened Southampton to go back to the top of the table, two points clear of Manchester City who have a game in hand. Talking of City we will be looking back at their FA Cup semi-final against Brighton that took place yesterday while we will also look ahead to the other semi-final between Watford and Wolves that will be played later on today, Sunday.

Now regular listeners will know that Damon, who is based in Tokyo, is normally with us but this week he is on his travels so it’s just me this time. Right, what do we have on this week’s show?
Line-up
DF: We start off by looking back at some of the football stories from the week and then we have our weekly football-language question. After that we explain another football expression and this week we focus on the phrase ‘a one-sided affair’. Then at the end of the show we have some predictions where we look at that FA Cup semi-fnal between Wolves and Watford that is taking place this weekend.
