"'The Lord is a God who knows,' Hannah sings in chapter 2. 'The Lord brings down to the grave, but also raises up.' That’s the God we worship this morning, the God we meet in Jesus, the God whose hope we hold on to as we continue to move toward Easter. The darkness of the tomb is the birthplace of resurrection, the womb from which God’s new life emerges. Even in the death of Christ—even in the tears of Hannah—God is present, promising a new future."
