Queens' District Attorney Hopefuls Debate the Issues


The seven candidates competing for the Democratic nomination for Queens District Attorney in this month’s primary join Brian and his co-moderator Christine Chung, Queens reporter at The City, to debate the issues in the race and how they envision the role of the district attorney.  The candidates are:

  • Queens borough presidentMelinda Katz
  • Jose Nieves, combat veteran and former deputy chief in the New York State Attorney General’s office
  • Greg Lasak, former Queens prosecutor and retired New York State Supreme Court Justice 
  • Tiffany Cabán, a public defender
  • Betty Lugoformer Nassau County assistant district attorney, now in private practice
  • Mina Malik, former prosecutor in Queens and Washington, lecturer at Harvard Law School and former executive director of the Civilian Complaint Review Board (CCRB)
  • Queens City Councilman Rory Lancman (24th District)
