Nigeria Parliament in lockdown

Authorities have confirmed that one person was shot and that Parliament was forced to go into lock down after the building was stormed by protesters. As Sudan's internet is restored after a month of outage and of brutal crackdowns on protesters at hand of the Rapid Support Forces, activists turn to social media to document the events. Nigerian writer Lesley Nneka Arimah has been awarded the 2019 Caine Prize for African Writing for her novel 'Skinned'. Her story imagines a society where young girls are ritually ‘uncovered’ and must marry before reclaiming the right to be dressed.
