The Battle of Kings Mountain and the Southern Campaign of the American Revolution

The Battle of Kings Mountain was a military engagement between Patriot and Loyalist militias during the Southern Campaign of the American Revolutionary War, resulting in a decisive victory for the Patriots. The battle took place on October 7, 1780, in what is now rural Cherokee County, SC. The Patriot victory was one of several key battles in Carolina that turned the tide of the war against Great Britain. John Slaughter, Group Superintendent, Southern Campaign of the American Revolution Parks, joins Walter Edgar to talk about Kings Mountain and about the importance of the Southern Campaign to the success of the American Revolution.
