Ramzi and I chat about what it’s like to be a sales engineer. What’s the job description? How is a sales engineer compensated? What do IT engineers on the buying side of things get wrong about sales engineers? What makes a good sales engineer? How can a sales engineer gently explain to an account rep that there’s actually nothing to sell the customer?
The sales engineer job is about people & communications skills as much as technical savvy. People that can speak to a human as well as they speak to a router are tough to come by. Maybe you’ve got both of those skills, though. If so, Ramzi says sales engineering is the best job in the world.
