Ian Harris on Comedy, Skeptical Audiences, and Atheism

Ian Harris is a comedian, voice actor, writer, director, and MMA trainer. He is also an outspoken atheist and skeptic who confronts magical thinking and religion in his comedy. In 2019 Leighann and Ian joined forces and performed their mainstage show at Dragon Con, The Science and Fiction Comedy Show, which blended nerdom (it's Drgaon Con!), atheism, skepticism, and science.

Ian talks about what it's like to perform skeptical comedy for different audiences, the kinds of audiences that respond best, and his guesses why. Also, how as a comedian he's seen certain topics, like climate change, become politicized and divorced from science. Leighann and Ian also dive into how they've seen many in the atheist community hold onto their own "religious" beliefs and that not everyone in the community are critical thinkers or skeptics and the schism or gap that's been created as a result.
