He’s even introduced to the likes of Carmine Persico, the long-time boss of the Colombo crime family. Throughout this episode, Joe and Leo discuss the cold-blooded and graphic nature of the mafia’s kills, the mental strength someone in Joe’s position needed to have, and how Joe came to meet the person who would be known as his mentor in the Bonnano family: Lefty Ruggerio.
