The Blizzard: Newcastle United 2-0 Blackpool, 1951

We celebrate Newcastle United's illustrious FA Cup history on today's episode of Greatest Games, in association with The Blizzard. Historian and author Dan Jackson joins us to look back at the 1951 FA Cup final, the first of three FA Cups Newcastle won in the 1950s!

A Newcastle side featuring legends such as Jackie Milburn and Chilean striker George Robledo beat Joe Smith's Blackpool in front of over 100,000 people at Wembley. We explore Newcastle's illustrious status at the time, as well as their victory in the final itself and its implications in what was a special time for North-East football.

This is the final episode in this season of Greatest Games–thank you all for listening. For more stories from the annals of football history, visit www.theblizzard.co.uk to explore their archives that contain over 700 articles of stories just like this one!
