Palmyra is recaptured by Assad


Syrian government forces have driven so-called Islamic State fighters out of Palmyra. They claim they will now use the area as a base to mount an attack on the IS stronghold of Raqqa. We spoke to Dr Amr Al Azm, former head of the Centre for Archaeological Research at the University of Damascus and an active member of the Syrian opposition, who discussed the state of the Unesco World Heritage site and the wider implications of this development in the conflict.
