Sakhi (Suk--ee) is one of the nation's longest running South Asian organizations in the US which works towards gender justice advocacy, serving survivors, supporting communities, and eradicating domestic and sexual violence. Kavita discusses the unique challenges Sakhi.org has faced as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic which hit NYC especially hard. In addition to the pandemic, we consider how the current administration and rising anti-immigration sentiment and xenophobia is making their work more difficult and more important than ever.
