Why was the John Whittingdale story not published?

Labour has called for Culture Secretary John Whittingdale to withdraw from press regulation decisions after news of his relationship with an escort. Four newspapers knew about the relationship, which ended in 2014, but decided not to publish the story. Executive director of campaign group Hacked Off, Evan Harris, and former deputy editor of News of the World, Neil Wallis, discussed the implications of this news and why the story was not published.
