I Just Want To Be by Cameo

Label: Chocolate City 019
Year: 1979
Condition: M
Price: $9.50

Here's an example of truly great funk, expressed in the weirdly joyous mood that characterizes the genre. Led by Julliard graduate Larry Blackmon, Cameo had enjoyed a few top 40 hits in the black market for several years before this single came along, and this is the one that really established them. Pop radio never really caught on to the band's creative sound, at least, not until near the end of the band's run, when the great "Word Up" proved irresistible to everybody. By the way, this hit single has a specially edited version of a 5:16 album cut. Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage Casablanca Records factory sleeve. It has Near Mint labels, and the vinyl looks untouched. The audio plays pristine Mint!
