episode 114: Stage 9 | Talavera de la Reina – La Covatilla | Vuelta a España 2018

In this episode of The Cycling Podcast from the Vuelta a España, Lionel Birnie and Daniel Friebe are at La Covatilla to witness the race being shaken up.

They discuss a second stage win in the space of a week for American Ben King of the Dimension Data team and the red jersey moving from Frenchman Rudy Molard to Britain’s Simon Yates.

Lionel and Daniel attempt to put King’s stage victory into context and ask whether his win earlier in the week loosened the shackles for him.

Then they discuss the changes to the overall classification and who looks poised to move into serious contention when the race resumes after Monday’s rest day.

In the final part we hear from Dutch journalist Daan Hakkenberg about Bauke Mollema’s near miss and Wilco Kelderman’s overall ambitions.
