episode 112: Stage 7 | Puerto-Lumbreras – Pozo Alcón | Vuelta a España 2018

The Cycling Podcast is an episode of two parts with the first section coming from Spain and the seventh stage of the Vuelta a España, which saw a second consecutive stage win for France – while the race leader is also a Frenchman.

Lionel Birnie and Fran Reyes recap the stage and an explosive final few kilometres that saw AG2R’s Tony Gallopin win with a daring late escape.

Away from the Vuelta, another story has developed surrounding the Irish Professional Continental team, Aqua Blue Sport. It was announced at the start of the week that the team would cease with immediate effect.

The team’s owner Rick Delaney had not spoken to the media but today he talked to The Cycling Podcast about the circumstances that led to the team’s sudden demise and offered some assurances to the riders that they would be paid until the end of the year.

The Cycling Podcast is supported by Rapha and Science In Sport.
