Today we start the decathlon of leadership! Event number 1 is the 100 meter sprint.
Three key lessons that we can learn from the 100 m sprint:
Tune out the noise
It demands focus
Distraction is the enemy
line up-- block out anything else, and focus.
This often takes a routine--
Doing the same things in preparation - born out of habit, repetition, success
Would often "practice starts"
Stay in your lane:
Disqualified if you ran out of your lane--
You need to know your role, and perform to your best ability in that role.
Sometimes I need to ask myself, what is my role in this situation?
Was it to just listen? To act, to solve the problem-
Acting out of our lane can get you into big trouble
Don't look back:
Never any use in looking back-- once the gun goes off, you're either sprinting or your not.
