Through Immigrantly, we are revolutionizing storytelling in America by offering a new kind of intellectual engagement that encourages listeners to learn and unlearn on their terms without fear of judgment. Our vision is to normalize the immigrant identity within the American social discourse for a kinder, more humane world. Covering everything from love and dating to food and faith, each weekly episode explores a theme with inspiring guests such as Grammy-winning singer Arooj Aftab, bestselling author of 'The Kite Runner,' Khaled Hosseini, and comedians Hari Kondabolu and Aparna Nancherla. episode 121: British, Newlywed & Detained

Craig Doble is British. He moved to the U.S. in 2015, fell in love with his wife, a U.S. citizen, and started to settle down. However, he mistakenly didn’t fill out a page in his visa renewal application, which led to his arrest by ICE. What ensued was a series of crazy events. Some of these include being listed as the wrong race twice, accidentally opening up an investigation against a cook who was having sex with a detainee and a judge who decided that Craig would be deported before the trial even happened.
