How Malik Monk Fits with This Year's Lakers Roster, Plus More Lineup Talk! Guest, Jacob Rude

Among the new faces on the Lakers next season, Malik Monk is arguably the most intriguing. It's in part because he's just 23, coming off a career-best season with the Hornets, and is playing on a veteran's minimum well below what was his perceived market value. It's also in part because most Laker fans have barely seen him play (the whole "Charlotte" thing) and given how he's a former lottery pick who made strides, it's a bit curious how the team that drafted him didn't even present a qualifying offer. (To be honest, the Kamenetzkys have only seen so many of Monk's games, and they cover the league for a living!)

With that in mind, they called upon Jacob Rude for perspective. In addition to his work covering the Lakers for Silver Screen And Roll, he also covered LaMelo Ball as part of USA Today's Lonzo Wire. (If that wasn't enough, Rude is also the new host of Locked On Hoosiers! Now that's versatility!) The Kamenetzkys talked with Rude about Monk's strengths and weaknesses on both sides of the ball, his up and down years in Charlotte, and how he could fit in L.A. Plus, there was talk of starting and closing lineups for the Lakers.

Hosts: Andy and Brian Kamenetzky

SEGMENT 1: Malik Monk's career in Charlotte. What went so well for most of 2021, and what didn't for many of his four seasons?

SEGMENT 2: Monk's strengths and weaknesses on both sides of the ball.

SEGMENT 3: How much time will Monk likely get and the risk he took signing below market on a stacked team. Plus, lineup talk!!!
