Are the Lakers Better Equipped for LeBron-less Minutes, and a HOF Starting Lineup!

During LeBron James' three seasons with the Lakers (and the entirety of his career, really), what to do while he sits has been mystery. The dropoff from arguably the greatest player ever and.... whoever else... would logically be pretty stark, but LeBron also can't play 48 minutes for 82 games and an entire postseason run, so something has to give. The question is just how much. With that in mind, the Kamenetzkys discuss a terrific piece by Silver Screen and Roll's Alex Regla examining this dilemma, and whether the Lakers are better equipped now to, if nothing else, prevent a complete collapse if their superstar sits for even 90 seconds.

The answer remains to be seen, but on paper, this year's team seems as well-positioned as any. Not surprisingly, the key to this puzzle will be Russell Westbrook.

From there, a fun listener question on the iTunes show page from ncarnick. (Listeners can also contact the Kamenetzkys on twitter - @kambrothers - or email - kamenetzkybrothers@gmail.com.) The Lakers could start a "five future Hall of Famers" lineup of LeBron, Anthony Davis, Westbrook, Carmelo Anthony and Dwight Howard. (Marc Gasol has a sold chance of making the HOF, but he's not a given like the others.) That unit wouldn't make a ton of sense from a basketball perspective, but would be pretty badass as an opening night celebration/gimmick. Should the Lakers do just for Game 1? Plus, a fun game within that game!
