Between 1926 and 1936 the population fell by 95%. The IRA Campaign in Britain (The War of Independence Part XVII)

Although frequently overlooked, the IRA and the wider republican movement in Britain played an important role during the War of Independence. While they were actively involved in gun running and several high profile jail breaks, their operations included some of the most controversial IRA actions during the war.

In this episode I interview Sam McGrath on the IRA campaign in Britain. Sam, who has been working on the series has also conducted in-depth research into the IRA in Britain, particularly Manchester. In this podcast he provides a fascinating insight into what is an often overlooked chapter of the war.
