SB 30 Episode 51: Memphis love, and secrets, with Holly Whitfield

“Oh, yes. This is everybody’s favorite question. And also, my favorite question to ask people as well. . . Mainly it is because the inspiration that I get from talking to other Memphians propels me every single day. Everybody has a moment where they feel bogged down in their work or their day-to-day or they’re feeling rightfully overwhelmed by everything that’s going on – if I can connect with another Memphian about something in Memphis that they’re passionate about or if I can connect with a story about Memphis, there’s something special about this city. And it just gives me an energy and an appreciation or, at times, it’s humbling. It makes me a better person.”

That’s Holly Whitfield, editor of the I Love Memphis blog and author of the new book Secret Memphis, a Guide to the Weird, Wonderful and Obscure, talking to host Mark Fleischer about why she loves Memphis. Join us for this refreshing episode of StoryBoard 30 to hear about Holly’s inspiration for writing Secret Memphis and some of those Memphis gems hidden in plain sight.
