Proposals to extend the River Fergus walkway to Clarecastle Quay are set to receive a €50,000 funding boost.
The Department of Rural and Community Development funding comes less than a year after the opening of the 1.5 kilometre paved cycling and walking route from the Quin Road in Ennis to the Clareabbey roundabout.
A further €121,000 has been allocated to six other recreational schemes around the county, including nearly €29,000 for a walking trail in Kilnamona and €22,000 for the development of a lakeside facility in Broadford.
€21,000 has been earmarked to link cycle routes in Kilrush, €20,000 has gone towards developing a community area in Kilkishen, while projects in Ennistymon and O Briens Bridge will also receive cash injections.
Clarecastle Fine Gael Councillor Paul Murphy says the community are over the moon.
