We've talked a bit about shadow values, so today I'm going into more detail about what they really are.
Golden Values are the things that we strive for in life: the things that we put before anything else in our lives.
My top 3 golden values:
There is a second type of value also: the Shadow Values. For every action you do, there's a feeling that you get. That feeling is your shadow value. Your nervous system and limbic system require shadow values to provide a sense of safety or security. The important thing is to recognize your shadow values and feed them in a positive way rather than seek negative feedback.
If you own your shadow values, other people cannot influence you.
If you are craving a certain feeling, or shadow value, but the action that got you there was unhealthy or unsafe, then it's in your best interest to find a new action that serves you better in order to fulfill that shadow value you're seeking.

How do you know what yours are? Ask yourself these questions:
When I did this for myself, the 3 that came up for me were Control, Validation, and Belonging. Shadow values will help you determine where your wounds are and where you need to do some healing. Your shadow values, or rather your actions, will drive you to a place of wealth or to a place of poverty. Many destructive habits will stem from a desire to feed a particular shadow value that can affect all facets of your life. On the other hand, not feeding them at all can have the same result.
