Clare's sole Sinn Fein Councillor says extra pay and fewer hours are needed to ensure healthcare outlets are staffed sufficiently this winter. It follows concerns expressed among elected representatives this week about Ennis Injury Unit, which was forced to close for one day last month over 'short term staffing deficits'. Additional staffing has been called for, with agency staff mooted as a solution if the problem arises again. Shannon-based Sinn Fein Councillor Donna McGettigan says measures have to be taken to attempt to stop healthcare workers leaving the country.
