1. Offense vs Indiana

starts at 1:00

Selling out versus loading up: when Michigan went pistol IU went balls for the wall against the run, even bringing corners to the line of scrimmage before the mesh point. All three(!) play-action passes were big gains. Something to talk about with the receivers finally, including Shoooooon. Blake Corum: still Hart but Fast, not saying Barry Sanders okay OKAY? Edwards is good not Corum good. Offensive line met resistance but didn’t give up pass-rush: that’s opponent variant. Disagreement on Barnhart.

2. Defense vs Indiana

starts at 36:08

Hate Walt Bell offenses. Not because they’re hard to stop but because they don’t go anywhere in many plays that all come down to how much practice time to do you want to expend on Indiana? Colson might have been a coaching thing: M didn’t want to play with light boxes but wasn’t getting lined up. Seth: Cover 3 in the first half: why? Brian: they didn’t respect IU. Pass rush probably was more IU-related.

3. Hot Takes, Special Teams, and Game Theory

starts at 1:01:25

A new plan for accessing Star Cornelius Johnson. The refs: personally offended by cool stuff—Fox knew the face-wipe was cool because they featured it on the reel before the 2nd half. Intentional grounding is philosophically broken. Seth is also philosophically broken. Can a game-winning field goal be sad?

4. Around the Big Ten With Jamie Mac

starts at 1:32:54

Purdue has no closer, needs to get up by 30 points to be secure. Illinois gets into an Iowa with Iowa but come out still looking like New Wisconsin. Old Wisconsin looks like they finally figured out that one receiver they targeted that one drive against us last year is actually worth throwing at. Michigan State keeps using that word “dignity” I’m not sure it means what they think it means.

MUSIC:

  • “Throwing Back the Apple”—Pale Saints
  • "Nobody Dies"—Thao & The Get Down
  • "Crippling Self Doubt and a General Lack of Self-Confidence"—Courtney Barnett
  • “Across 110th Street”
