Nhlanhla Makhubo “aka” Nhlex was born and raised in Tembisa “Endulweni Section” then moved to Olifantsfontein. Nhlex has been a huge supporter and follower of House Music since the early 90’s while in high school. The love and passion for house music started when he’s uncle used to collect Vinyl’s/LP’s/Records and play them just for fun. The intrigue began when he met a friend who used to spin vinyls through turntables and he begged him to teach him how to play. After being advised to start knowing the music through the artists, a collection of these vinyl’s ensued and eventually he was given a change and taught how to mix through the turntables in 2001 and eventually he had a whole turntable and mixer set. Due to academic studies commitments, he had to lay low from this passion as it interfered with what was the main priority at that point “2003”. DJ History: After thinking long and hard, Nhlex decided to get back in the craft of doing what was dearly close to his heart. “The art of mixing music behind the decks”. This was also a journey taken after feeling the need to spread and broaden out the local dj scene with a touch of something different in music selection. He was introduced to a home that resided a crew of very much well talented young djs/promoters/business people who were part of a clan called Devine House Entertainment. With the same type and style of music shared with the family, Nhlex was officially part of “DHE” by late 2008. DHE was famous in the Tembisa and surrounding areas as the crew that hosted big Sunday Sessions at a place called Gata Lenna. DHE was also known for hosting the annual Deep House event called “Ekhurhuleni Deep House Tour”. The EDHT was an effort to unite all the well known and upcoming djs around the Ekurhuleni District. While still part of the Devine House Entertainment crew, a new project was initiated by him and a fellow member. It was called the Sunday Morning-After Soul Sessions, this project saw a joint venture partnership between Nhlex and Ntshebe and the birth of a new company called DeepSoul Unlimited in 2009.
