Life of Fiction

How do you entertain the world with your fiction? That's a question I've been asking myself since I launched WantedHero.com in 2005. These stories were for my kids, but that didn't last long. Kids share with other kids, and sometimes crazy things grow. This podcast is about the creative process, perspectives, stories, and my worldbuilding addictions. It's to show you that nothing is ever as simple or as easy as it seems, and life doesn't usually turn out like we think it will. If you’re looking for ideas, inspiration, instruction, or maybe a glance into the creative process of lying to kids for a living, this may be the podcast for you.

episode 11: S1E11 7 Things Successful Authors DON'T Do

Happy New Year!

Hope you had a wonderful holiday, because the Buckley's had the whole tribe together, loving each other and rolling in candy and food...(we locked the scales away until the new year).

Today I'm without Simon, who is prepping for school, so I wanted to share something I've been thinking about for a while...

episode 10: S1E10 WORLDBUILDING: Simon Explains The Dragons Chasm, Part 2

I'm going to teach Simon how to run this show--I swear I will. No matter how long it takes, he'll get it eventually.

Today I've asked my son to take over and continue explaining the Dragon's Chasm--going over the Clodorius, the Cloud Canopy, Nock Shelves, Mid Climb, Debris Shelves, and Canyon Floor.

I'm excited to have this conversation, as I know you are. So sit back, enjoy a coffee and make sure to jot down the questions you have...

episode 9: S1E9 WORLDBUILDING: Simon Explains The Dragons Chasm

Today Simon and I delve into worldbuilding again (finally!!). Yes, there's SO much to share about WantedHero, but I asked my son to go over the dynamic creation that he's been creating for over a year...

The Dragon's Chasm.

I get to say, right here--that Simon is brilliant. He doesn't have access to the metadata of the show, so he can't stop me...neener.

Sit back, pop a pop,.....

episode 4: S1E4 A teen from Russia asks Why Wendell?

Finally got the popper working so I could communicate with Höbin. Wouldn't you know it--the problem was solved by something as simple as a little blue button?

Gnomes.

Anyway--we received a questions from one of our new readers from Russia, who was curious about Wendell.

Höbin goes to the WantedHero.com database he's been building for the initial part if the answer, and I share the reasoning behind our heroes creation.
