Would the stars returning be enough to get LA into the play in? Will the Lakers pony up for a premier coach next year?
The Lakers' 2021-22 season has been an absolute disaster. Some reasons are beyond anybody's control... but many issues could have been avoided through better decisions. And while fans will - not without reason - point to the Russell Westbrook trade as the flashpoint for where everything that's fallen apart, it hasn't been the only bad call over the last few years. Poor decisions, major and minor, have helped what looked like a strong franchise fall apart in a hurry...
Talking with Bleacher Report's Eric Pincus about a series of front office mistakes, big and small...
For the Lakers, the losses keep on coming. This time, it was against the Mavericks in Dallas, 128-110, with LeBron James and Anthony Davis sitting out with injuries. Russell Westbrook and Malik Monk put up some nice numbers, but the Lakers were throughly outclassed in terms of available talent. Monday, Frank Vogel all but said LeBron James won't play Tuesday night thanks to the bum ankle he turned Sunday in New Orleans. Anthony Davis, however, practiced and while he (like James) is listed as doubtful for tonight in Dallas, there's a chance he'll be back on the floor perhaps as early as Thursday (in Utah) or Friday (at home vs. the Pellies)...
The Lakers are hanging on by a thread. Is it worth their stars risking more injury to save... whatever this season is?
The Lakers are in a very precarious spot following Sunday's costly loss to the Pelicans
This one hurt, big. Sunday, the Lakers lost a 23-point lead to the Pelicans, losing the game 116-108. They lost their hold over the 9th seed in the Western Conference (and the possibility of hosting the first game of the play-in), the tiebreaker to the Pelicans, some of their cushion over the 11th place San Antonio Spurs (now only a game back of L.A.), and critically, may have lost LeBron James to an ankle injury. Aside from that, Mrs. Lincoln.....
It's the stretch run, and the Lakers don't have a lot of wiggle room. Sunday's game is a biggie...
