The Ape Connoisseur himself, Felix Biederman makes his triumphant return to the show with an extended discussion of From Software's most-podcasted-about series. We've got Souls chat, we've got Bloodborne talk, we've got Sekiro seshing, and a rewarding meditation on what the Blighttown of NYC is.
More Trev, more Piss, more coffee, more Lives, more High School Boys. Episodes 4-6!
Jon and Trev discuss the resplendent B-Game-ness of Outriders, 2021's sparse calendar in general, Days Gone, The Epic Metaverse, and tons of other stupid garbage. Enjoy!
Miri (@scarlettmiracle) joins us to chat about Othercide, an extremely Aesthetic tactical roguelike that you may have unjustly overlooked!
Trev and Piss return! This week we are embarking on a NEW ANIME PROGRAM. The Daily Lives of High School Boys episodes 1-3!
Hello! We are light on episodes this week so I thought why not give everyone a treat now that the book is done. One of my fav Q&A's from way back when with Leon @leyawn Chang is here, in full old 2017 quality and style. Would people like these to return? They could!
Love ya
Everyone's pal Liv (@aveyclub) returns to the After Dark to talk exploration in gaming!
PHYSICIAN'S WARNING: Contains a non-trivial amount of Australia Chat.
What is the appeal of non-translated works? Is it a way of exoticising something in an othering way? Or is it a way of divorcing parts of a story from themselves? And do videogames do this in a way that would differ from other media? In other words, is there something outside of the regressive gawking at the "other" in our enjoyment of untranslated work, or is it simply not all that interesting at all?
Trevor says the phrase "My daughter's karate dojo teamed up with a local dermatologist". Sony unceremoniously murders the PS3 and Vita store. Activision fucks with CoD matchmaking. Warner Bros. makes a Looney Tunes gacha game. Reality continues to unravel. Snyder Cut.
A solo episode! I discuss experimental literature while musing on Dennis Cooper's The Sluts and Kathy Acker and ask why we don't have experimental games in the same way. The answer will reveal a bit about how medium expectations impact art in a way I think will be rewarding for all. Or not, but hell, I tried OK.
Viewer discretion advised on this one for some intense descriptions of sexualized violence...
