OK, now we're in the race to Christmas and I have to get cracking on the annual "best of" show for 2023. I have a lot of tracks selected, but as always I'm looking for your input! There's always a gem or two that my ears miss and the collective listenership of RSA does catch. The prizes are rolling in for the 2024 membership drive. Thats a few months away, but there may be surprises. I also have an idea for possibly doing another round of more simplified T-Shirts...

Had a bit of an existential crisis last week, wondering if RSA has become irrelevant. Once upon a time I did an interview with I Die: You Die and when the topic of is there any end in sight, I commented that what would probably be the end was when RSA became irrelevant. Couple that with some back end technical issues that have been driving me bananas and I suddenly wondered if that time had come. A friend of mine once asked if "Imposter syndrome" ever goes away...

Got some prizes in this week, pins and magnets! Next step, lets get some more stickers made up. In this weeks show I touch on protecting your hearing a bit. Got my hearing checked this week, and its surprisingly good barring the tinnitus. Wear ear plugs at shows if you can, and maybe turn the volume down a bit on your headphones. I've also posted a poll in the Facebook group. I'm looking to see how you "consume" RSA so I can maybe tweak a few things and make life easier for everyone...

I'm still trying to figure out what I should be giving away as prizes, especially at the "Everyone gets something" level. If you have any idea, please reach out. Optical media is dead, and I might have to raise the "minimum" donation from $25 to do anything else, and I'm loathe to do that. I honestly enjoy sending out stuff to everyone! Had another interaction this week with a listener who stopped listening for whatever reason a decade ago, decided to look us up and voila! Here we are still putting together great shows for everyone. This sort of thing happens more often than you'd expect, I suspect people coming and going has a lot to do with finishing school, changing jobs, etc. I tried once again to get RSA on Spotify, but no dice...

I've also shifted to working on RSA during the day when there's ya know, daylight. This time of year gets hard for everyone as the days get shorter and darkness envelopes us all. At least with working from home I don't get that feeling of never seeing the sun all winter. But this week I took my time, worked on the show a bit every day and came up with some really neat recent releases that I know you'll love. It was also really cool to be "able" to play Klaus Nomi...

Actually surprised myself on Saturday and sat down to finish RSA only to find that Thursday Todd was thinking ahead and got everything done. Since the cycling season is over, and I don't think it really affected things this year, but we'll be back to posting the show earlier on the weekend rather than Sunday or even Monday at the last minute. Yes, soon comes the darkness where I get all spooky and work on RSA in the (near) dark...

Last night was a lot of fun spinning in Toronto again, I don't think there will be another local gig, I'm actually quite comfortable just working on RSA each week and getting new music out for everyone to hear. I wish there was a little more interaction, but I just think about the person who's listening while working, or even going back to an "ancient" show (we're down to 2006 on YouTube!) and remember that a lot of people just want to listen, and be entertained while doing crazy stuff...

I swear I pick the tracks at random, but I must admit I have a good ear. Otherwise I wouldn't be doing this successfully, now would I? But I have the sneaking suspicion that there may be not 1 but 2 tracks in this weeks show that make their way onto the end of the year Best Of show. I've started thinking about prizes and swag to give away in the 2024 membership drive, but it could be a chaotic drive this year with me uploading shows while tethered to my phone. Possibility of a move coming up and I'll need to get my ducks in a row to have a nice seamless "transfer" like I did in 2019. I've also been toying with Sanctuary sets. Can't go full retro. I've done a lot of stuff since that place closed in 2001...
