I'm still beavering away, writing up the new season. But this week I was also busy rehearsing and then performing live, 2 gigs here in Liverpool. So I thought I'd share some thoughts on the experience, and why Ai will not get the better of me any time soon...

The podcast is still on hiatus, working on the script for Season/Series 8. I was in London for the Podcast Show London 2023, and met up with actor Christopher McDougall for lunch. The traffic sirened around us, and the cafe door squeaked endlessly, yet we managed to record a snippet of conversation to share with you. Enjoy!

A song written in the form of riddle, quite popular in the folk tradition. This one was inspired by a song-writing workshop challenge. Thanks for listening, stay safe.

Yet another one of my songs. This one was written for a musical that never eventuated, about an ageing actress trying to restart her career. Here she prepares for an audition, and expresses the thoughts any one who has been involved in a 'cattle call' audition will appreciate.
Helen's fans will be pleased to hear that Episode 1 of Season 8 has been scripted! Please help to spread the word, share links to the podcast on social media...
This song was originally written for a play-with-music, "Blame it on Your Mother", back in the early 2000s. I thought, at the time, that I was fictionalising my own experience to gift to a character who had more sense than me. But time passed, and as it happened, this is exactly how my relationship with my mother panned out! So yes—another autobiographical song...
Bonus Episode, an autobiographical song, all about me! Plus a heads up about the new, spinoff podcast I'm working on in which I'll be talking to some of my friends and colleagues about their life experience, creative process and attitudes to ageing. Watch this space!
Theme music is by John T LaBarbera, composer and instrumentalist extraordinaire. www.johntlabarbera.com.
Back in the mists of time, I wrote a stage play called "Blame it on Your Mother", which consisted of a series of monologues, duologues and songs on the theme of mother/daughter relationships. Here is the voice of the 6 year old, telling it how it is. Enjoy.

At last, the big finale. Helen finds herself the centre of attention, so she has to take advantage of the situation and see if she can get some real changes happening. The Greek Gods are there to make sure she's safe, Team Helen also in support. Pity it's all a fiction, that's all I can say.
This is the end of Season 7. I'm about to launch into the world of Podcast Interviews, but it will take a few weeks to organise. I'll let you know when it's ready...
At last, the big day has arrived, and Helen in a bit of a flap, getting ready to attend the 2023 UK Philanthropist of the Year Awards ceremony. She's wearing the fabulous one-off designer ball gown provided by the goddess Artemis, and Hermes is 'getting a lift'. What could possibly go wrong? I am joined by Frances Broudie Oldridge (Josie), John Warner (Jonathon) and Tayo Aluko (Deji) in the cast. Please let me know what you think of the story!
