Impossible Way Of Life

Still riding a high from Peter Jackson's "Get Back," teaser; so we thought let's do a two part production on The White Album, and then try and condense this notoriously dense record into a single LP, instead of a double.  Catch next Sunday's episode for the 2nd part.

 

We watched this doc - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3614126/ on Clapton in the 70s, and thought we'd try and get to the bottom of it all.  Funny stuff.

Joined by meme overlord and "bloody good bloke," Vom Cruise aka Sam, and we talk about an album it's really difficult to joke around about, cause it's THAT good.

Carrying on the deep dive into The Ladies of the Canyon Folkie scene, the boys compare how many times they cried during Side A of Joni's Mitchell's "Blue."  We try out some different pre-amps, see where "Blue" features on Pitchforks 100 best albums of the 70s list, and debate whether James Taylor was a fine piece of ass.

She is one of the best there is and ever was - we love you Joni.

Did you know that LSD and hippies were invented by the CIA in the 1960s? No?  The idea was to hook kids on sex, drugs and rock & roll, so they would not overthrow the military industrial complex...

Still in Laurel Canyon, and we spent the whole goddam' hour trying to figure it out and we have no idea who is in this band.  The only thing we do know, is they booted Crosby out for this one.  Our favourite episode we've done - sexually, philosophically, and psychotically. 

The boys are joined by producer, bassist and legendary Deadhead Dan Horne for an informal powwow on Jerry and The Gang. 

The Dead’s infamous “wall of sound” touring rig is investigated, along with where to get the best Chilean wine in Echo Park. Dan’s Sm7B podcast microphone was going through a very impressive signal chain before reaching his 1/2” tape machine, so expect superb sound quality on this episode. 

Staying in The Bay Area, we bring friend of the pod Alex Bleeker in talk all things Dead; James is still snowed in on Salt Spring Island, so basically in a hot air balloon, and we swear in a couple weeks we will do Bowie Record, but we have to Black Pill all the way to The Eagles first.  Love you guys.

It took a couple months, but we finally got there.  The moment that the heart and soul of Laurel Canyon was ripped out by the talons of a Corporation more commonly known as The Eagles.  We are joined by our good friend and stats guy Mike, who was in a fugue state for most of this recording.  This is O.G Impossible Way of Life energy, where it all began baby.  This one is for the fans.

Kinda a miracle we left Laurel Canyon in one piece.  Going back to Trident Studios for a hot minute.  Don't listen to this one if you don't like our impressions.
