The Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum doesn’t operate any more. It hasn’t since 1994 when it was forcibly closed due to its history of maltreatment of patients, and the lawsuits that followed. But, beneath the decay and warped molding present today, you might see hints of the hospital’s former grandeur - and most certainly, evidence of its many ghosts.

In 1997, during renovations to the Crescent Hotel, workers found a bizarre discovery. In the woods behind the hotel, they unearthed a glass jar with a mystery object inside. Local authorities determined that it was a cancerous tumor, preserved in alcohol. More than 400 more jars were soon found and...is it any wonder the Crescent Hotel is considered one of the most haunted hotels in America?
