episode 21: Being an Empath - How Do I Process Tragedies and Loss

I lived most of my life before I learned officially I was most likely an empath.  Reading about it, talking to others about it, it seems that I am an empath.  What does mean?  I will break that down in this episode.  And how do I process the kinds of events that challenge, if you will, an empath, and our sanity.  I'll explore that for you, and talk about protecting my heart and my energy...

episode 22: The Brochure on Loneliness

In my trailer and my promotional materials, I've talked about this podcast, and how I will explore topics for those of us who feel like we didn't get the how-to brochure on life.  Here is the brochure, or at least part of the brochure on loneliness.

It is maybe a common belief among people that only children are more lonely than those with siblings.  But I would argue that this is not always the case...

episode 23: The Brochure on Meghan & Harry - Unpacking the Interviews, Book & Docuseries

I was always fascinated and in love with Princess Diana.  No one could hold a candle to her in my book.  So, it's been hard to watch William and Harry struggle, but of course, I was thrilled when each one found a lovely woman to marry, and complete their lives.

In this episode, I will unpack some of the controversial interviews, Harry's book, "Spare," that just came out and promises to be a record breaker in terms of sales...

episode 24: The (Funny) Brochure on Surgery

My "good" knee recently took a deep dive into the dark side.  It's frustrating when your body doesn't keep up with your personal goals!  So it looks like I'll be having knee surgery in the near future.  And it got me thinking about my experiences with surgery.  Looking back on them, I ended up being glad I had each procedure, because eventually yes, I ended up feeling better.  But having surgery has its own bumps in the road...

episode 25: The Brochure on Doing for Yourself - Go Big - Volunteering, Comedy, Podcasting

At certain points in my life, I've found the need to do something for ME.  Something that has brought joy to my life, or meaning, or both.  I'm not just talking about that piece of chocolate, or bowl of ice cream, or even that shirt you really like.  It's important to have something in your life that brings meaning....to YOU, but it's not always easy to cultivate these things in your life.  Hear about how I found my way, and learned some things along the way, as well...

episode 26: The Brochure on A Big Tree - Resilience & Strength Personified

How do you feel about trees?  All my life, there's been a tree shadowing my life.  A redwood tree.  We have a relationship of sorts.  Sometimes it's a love/hate kind of thing.  Can you be jealous of a tree?

In this episode, I talk about that tree, as well as some of the symbolism and meaning of trees in our lives.

Here are some links to info discussing trees in our lives:

episode 27: The Brochure on Time Management & Being The Energizer Bunny

Time management is an important part of life, but it changes a bit as your life changes, or transitions.  This week, I'm sharing why I've often been called the Energizer Bunny, but also how I'm approaching my time management now that I'm not working.  I'll also share some thoughts on the word retirement.  People have used the R word to describe me, but I'm not sure I'm quite ready for that title - yet.

episode 28: The Brochure on a Lifelong Relationship with Food, Part 1

Food, oh glorious food.  I love food.  I hate what it can do to me.  I've almost always felt CONTROLLED by food, and so while I NEED food, I have a love/hate relationship with it.  It feels like that dysfunctional boyfriend, the one I really was crazy for, but the one who wasn't good for me.

I come from parents who both enjoyed food too much, and who used food as an emotional crutch, at least most of the time...

episode 29: The Brochure on a Lifelong Relationship with Food, Part 2

This is Part 2 of 3 about my journey with food, dieting, and trying to maintain a healthy weight throughout my lifetime.  This episode starts in college, and details out some of the crazy things I binged on, and then takes you through my 20s and 30s, when I had my store and started working.  And when  I could still eat carbs and get away with it!  Now, if I walk past carbs, I get into trouble!

One of my lowest points mentally was seeing photos of myself after Gina's funeral...
