Welcome to Episode 16, the first Podcast of Season 2! Cricket season is already here after a T20 International at Adelaide Oval last weekend. We talk WBBL, Marsh Cup and Sheffield Shield. Haz learns about the tallest mountain in the world, Skin throws the baby out with the bathwater and Leigh reflects on why cricket is not a "Funny old game"...
Episode 15 is the final episode of Season 1 and it utilises the services of recently retired and much loved Queensland Bulls paceman Luke Feldman. Luke joins us on the phone with a cricket game blaring in the background which provides plenty of highlights. He tells stories, provides commentary and even speaks about some cricket. For the neutral viewer though, the highlight is his roasting of co-host Sam Heazlett...
Episode 14 and in a Podcast first we have two people on the phone at once! One is Sam Heazlett who is churning runs in the Marsh Cup currently; the other is even more exciting (sorry Haz) as Jack Lukosius from the Gold Coast Suns joins us to try and educate Haz on AFL and relive his memories of bowling heat as a gun junior cricketer!
We chat Brownlow medal, AFL Grand Final, Haz previews the NRL Grand Final—he sits on the fence for some more ruling interpretations—and provides an in...
Episode 13 sees Mitch and Sam take the reins as Leigh is on a Snow Trip. Truth be told, we manage to get Leigh on the phone, so you still get to hear him talk about his dismissals so far this cricket season...
Episode 12 and we have Mackenzie Sadler on the phone to discuss the opening round of the AON Uni 7s Tournament. She talks through the structure, blows up about how she had the captaincy taken from her the year after winning the competition (totally joking... we blew up about it!) and explains her reasoning for jumping from Touch Football to Rugby 7s...
Episode Legs 11! Great set of getaway sticks. Leigh, Mitch and Sam talk through the excitement of Australia retaining the Ashes in England for the first time since 2001. They speak to one of Queensland Premier Cricket's gun players, Andrew Gode about his own performances, his thoughts on playing against Leigh and his love for the South Sydney Rabbitohs...
Episode 10 and we bring up the double figures by utilising the return of the prodigal son… Sam Heazlett. After an amazing performance on debut we simply could not keep Sam in the Reserves (Magoos) for any longer. He helps us chat through Will Chambers getting punched (shock), Kelly Slater building a wave pool and Leigh’s phenomenal Grand Final record...
Episode 9 features a significant look at the Third Ashes Test and that is why this episode sets a new We Got The Chocolates record for "minutes of your life consumed". More unpacking in this episode than we do after the weekly grocery shop. AFL Finals are upon us (Go Lions), the All Australian Squad has some notable omissions and Bazley's AFL Fantasy CV gets a boost. We also delete a round from the NRL season and question the John's brothers birth dates... although not intentionally...
Episode 8 features Bradley Russell—the man with an unbelievable Touch Football resume—he joins us for an update on everything Touch and NRL related. We delve into the talking points from the second Ashes Test, analyse King Kyrgios’ latest meltdown and much more. Then wind the clock back for our song of the week.
P.S. Our house must be bugged because straight after recording this episode the AFL changed the interpretation of the “Studs Up’ rule!
See omnystudio...
Episode 7 of the We Got The Chocolates Podcast features Brisbane Heat and Queensland Bulls left handed, long haired, top order batsman Sam Heazlett. Sam chats cricket but also outlines his passion for NRL and Surfing and takes the podcast to depths it could never have envisaged weeks ago...
