Justice League International [vol 2] #53 (1993) In this week's book, Crimson Fox reunites with her previously dead husband because she can’t get enough of his kleptomaniac stroke. Metamorpho’s all torn up about it so he dresses like Robert Stack in UNSOLVED MYSTERIES and terrorizes cabbies throughout Paris. On the beach, Elongated Man and Tasmanian Devil dig up an alien statue named Godfrey...

Suicide Squad [vol 7] #1 (2021) The current comic cavalcade continues as we check out what’s going on with DC and the Infinite Frontier. Turns out - more of the same with an incredibly handsome Rick Flagg facing off against badass Amanda Waller. We also got John Cena the Peacemaker breaking into Arkham with a few jobbers including Film Freak, a film school flunky with no apparent powers outside of maybe channeling Robert De Niro kicks from GOODFELLAS...

King In Black: Thunderbolts #1 (2021) Look at us….covering a comic in the current decade! The world - and specifically New York City - is covered in alien goo so Mayor Kingpin is like “I’ll do a Suicide Squad thing but even more corrupt.” So he grabs Taskmaster, Mister Fear and a few other jabronis and has them go find Norman Osborn and his weird hair to help them. We bear witness to goo dragon fights, some beheadings and a few witty comments along the way...

Secret Origins [vol 2] #21 (1987) Two stories in one today as we first explore the origin of infamous cowboy corpse, Jonah Hex. Twisted curio collector Ian McKellan and hired goon Donal Logue are here to shake down Jonah’s elderly wife for rights to his stuffed corpse but ’92 Jeff Goldblum is here to save the day. Then later, we learn about the original Black Condor. Starting out as an obese baby, Condor became irradiated by a meteor and learned to fly, going around fighting eagles and stuff...

Jack Kirby’s Secret City Saga #2 (1993) From the mind of a comic book legend comes the Secret City, a lost civilization from 15000 years ago that was buried under Chicago. Upon their re-emergence, the more nefarious citizens kidnap Bill Clinton and and have him replaced with a sarcastic shapeshifter. It’s up to the good guys — a Captain America wannabe, a woman with osteoporosis, a dude who hurls guns and a kid hellbent on vehicular homicide — to save the day...

The Book of Fate #12 (1998) Its Jared Stevens’s last issue as he turfs yet another Doctor Fate spin-off series. To celebrate and commiserate, Jared and Lobo hop around the galaxy getting drunk. Sensational She-Hulk #26 (1991) She-Hulk is hired to defend Excalibur's Meggan when Meggan turns into a trash monster and runs amok in a Nando’s. The caveat here is now is that CAPTAIN BRITAIN has now been possessed by trash to the point where he’s just sitting around eating it. Like used wrappers and apple cores and all that. She-Hulk resorts to her feminine wiles and remarkably average-sized feet to save the day...

DC Comics Presents #43 (1982) Superman is harassed by his co-workers because he opts to have a wistful stare out of a window rather than talk to that yutz Jimmy Olson. He thinks he sees a Sun Eater and he’s correct but gets ambushed by Mongul. Mongul traps Clark in a glass case of emotion so its up to the Legion of Super-Heroes to figure it all out. Cosmic Boy shows up wearing his black Emma Frost corset costume and all is right in the world...
