Today I have a very special guest joining me, Sarah-Jane Perman. Sarah-Jane is an incredible inspiration to so many people across the globe and she has an amazing story to tell us about her personal career journey. Sarah Jane is a yoga teacher, spiritual mentor, Tantrika, and 5 elements dance facilitator. She travels the world teaching embodied movement practices, facilitating goddess retreats and sacred ceremonies. She works mostly with women in her Sacred Sisterhood and Sisters of the Moon programs. She has travelled to incredible places to lead powerful retreats and workshops and participate in magical festivals. Sarah’s going to share with us how through her personal journey of self-inquiry and quest ease her constant anxiety that something fundamental was missing in her life she created her own path and amazing career.

I’m a firm believer that we can find a career aligned to our purpose, love our work and enjoy success beyond our wildest dreams. I also believe we can only achieve all these when we start our quest with self inquiry, when we get super clear on who we are – our values, passions and unique talents.

Sarah

Thank you for your beautiful intro. So my journey started quite young care of my “hippy” mother. I’m really grateful because she has been a really strong mentor for me.

I’ve done all the normal work stuff, I used to work in television, in marketing and PR and before I was in TV, I was in the arts. I’ve always followed my passion. I used to do a lot of acting, I was a dancer for 18 years and that led me to working in the arts, I used to work at West Australian Ballet in Perth for many years. When I cast my mind back particularly on my working journey, I’ve always had awesome jobs. I’ve always engineered my jobs to really suit my abilities. In WAB I used to run an education program and taught dance workshops all over Western Australia and did marketing for them. Then I found myself in Sydney and did corporate, which was really not for me.

Sometimes it’s good to do these things as they teach you what you don’t really want to do. When something happens that’s really bad, you’re forced to make a decision. Some people, who don’t have so much confidence, get stuck in less-than-ideal situations and it’s easy to get stuck.  Being in a position where you’re really not happy can be a good thing as it teaches us so much and forces us to learn and make real changes.

Sarah

I think I was ... because I was going to inject some life and energy in to the company when I took a job in finance and I think I was quite entertaining at meetings but I can’t talk really much on commodities and mining and things I should know about. But having been working in the arts then suddenly being offered finance kind of salary I was offered good money. But that didn’t really work out. Then I walked into a job in the television and landed a coveted job by chance.  I’ve always been really good at creating reality as I lived my life very openly and trust that whatever I need is going to show up.

Kylie

Talk to us a little bit more of how you’ve created and fostered that trust in yourself.

Sarah

Interestingly enough as I’ve gone deeply into this self-enquiry, I treat it as an experiment. I realise now when I look back that I was really good at manifestation. Just being able to stay grounded at whatever happens, I’m sure there’s a reason for this. From that perspective I was good at creating what I want, because we can have what we want, it’s all possible.

From corporate, I did the TV,
