AsianBossGirl

Melody Cheng, Helen Wu-Wang, and Janet Wang are the co-creators of AsianBossGirl, a multimedia company for the modern day Asian-American woman. AsianBossGirl was founded to share their experiences as 9-to-5 professional working women, balancing careers, social lives, cultural identities, and personal development while living in the city of Los Angeles. What started as a passion project podcast has turned into a multi-media business that they now run full-time. On their platforms, you’ll find conversations about the nuanced experience of being an Asian American woman navigating the corporate world as a person of color, mental and emotional health as children of immigrants, interviews with inspiring Asian women (and men), and even blind dates recorded on the mic. Their mission is to make everyday Asian-American women feel heard, seen, and connected.

episode 210: What Does It Take to be an FBI Agent? with Alex Pham (Special Agent) and Candyce Ha (Community Outreach Specialist)

March is Women’s History Month, so we invited Alex Pham and Candyce Ha of the FBI (that’s right, the Federal Bureau of Investigation) to share their experiences with you all! We’ve always seen intelligence agencies portrayed in Hollywood movies and TV shows, but today, we get a first hand account of how accurate those depictions are to reality. What is the training process like for new agents or staff members? What’s the most rewarding part of the job? And how many pull-ups do you have to do?

Whether you’ve considered working for the FBI, or you’re just as curious as we were about this line of work, this is an episode you don’t want to miss!

Alex Pham is a Special Agent assigned to work Counterterrorism matters. She often travels overseas to Southeast Asian countries to fulfill the FBI’s mission internationally through liaison efforts. She’s also one of the Diversity & Inclusion Coordinators for the LA Division, responsible for promoting diversity, inclusion, and equity within the FBI workforce and local communities.

Candyce is a Community Outreach Specialist overseeing the Los Angeles Division’s AAPI program. She focuses on strengthening ties with AAPI organizational partners, with the goal to cultivate a safe and more inclusive community.
