Melody Cheng, Helen Wu-Wang, and Janet Wang are the co-creators of AsianBossGirl, a multimedia company for the modern day Asian-American woman. AsianBossGirl was founded to share their experiences as 9-to-5 professional working women, balancing careers, social lives, cultural identities, and personal development while living in the city of Los Angeles. What started as a passion project podcast has turned into a multi-media business that they now run full-time. On their platforms, you’ll find conversations about the nuanced experience of being an Asian American woman navigating the corporate world as a person of color, mental and emotional health as children of immigrants, interviews with inspiring Asian women (and men), and even blind dates recorded on the mic. episode 211: What Feedback Would You Give to Your Boss? The Value of a 360 Review Process
Receiving feedback on your performance in the workplace is always nerve-wracking, particularly when these review processes are tied to your compensation and perceived value. We started our careers working 9to5 jobs and we came to expect periodic performance reviews – most often annually, but sometimes even quarterly. This process can look different depending on the company. There are self-assessments, peer assessments, and what’s called the 360 review, which involves a full circle of feedback from employees to peers to managers. For anyone who may have these dreaded evaluations coming up, we wanted to share our positive and negative experiences, discuss whether we preferred informal or formal review processes, and even give each other constructive feedback as business partners!
