More work is not better, better work is better.
This is the topic of today’s solo podcast. While some coaches throw high volume at their athletes, I feel it’s crucial to find a balance between load and quality. While increased load may be beneficial in certain cases, it’s important to not let increased load hinder the quality of execution.
Increasing the load on one skill may have a negative impact on an athletes performance, as typically, they tend to then neglect other areas in need of improvement or maintenance. This places a high importance on dividing your time, energy and attention evenly among all areas of your training.
Just like in all areas of life, time away from your training is often just as beneficial as the time you spend training. A lower attentional load often leads to increased productivity and a better overall performance.
